Jamaine is a born & bred Christchurchian who moved to Auckland in 2003. A move which has earned him the esteemed label of 'JAFA' among his hometown 'friends'. A label which doesn't bother him at all so he doesn't know why they always go on about it.
He first tried his hand at stand up comedy in 2009 at The
Classic and entered the Raw Comedy Quest the following year where
he was knocked out in the semi finals (probably due to his lack of
facial hair but that's just speculation).
For 2 years he kept a low profile on the stand up scene, spending
some of that time working with 2012 Billy T Award winner Guy
Williams on TV3's The Jono Project, but most of the time growing a
beard.
In 2012, he entered the Raw Comedy Quest again, and despite his
mediocre looks, was able to win the whole thing by unanimous
decision.
His comedy can best be described as 'indescribable' (Jamaine Ross) and 'funny' (Jamaine Ross). 7 Days star, Paul Ego also said something nice about him but he can't remember what it was.
Expect to see him a lot on the local comedy scene in the coming year (almost too much), as he continues to craft his skills.
