Robbie Ellis is a piano comedian who grew up in Auckland and now lives in Chicago. He hosts the monthly musical comedy night Sunday Fizz at Chicago's Rhapsody Theater, and has released two albums: Metric System (2022) and Pumpkins (2018).
As a music director for improv, sketch and musical theatre, he's worked at legendary Chicago institutions like The Second City, iO, The Annoyance Theatre, ComedySportz and the Chicago Magic Lounge; as well as with ConArtists in Auckland and other companies all over New Zealand and Australia. Robbie is also a composer who's had works performed by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and Royal New Zealand Ballet. He's created classical comedy concerts for the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago and the vocal quartet Fourth Coast Ensemble. By day he makes classical music radio, currently for WFMT Chicago and formerly for RNZ Concert.
