The Boy With Tape On His Face … MORE TAPE
He’s NZ’s new international success story, sold out in 2011, back with a brand new show at the 2012 NZ International Comedy Festival.
The Boy has had a huge year since his sold out season here in the 2011 festival. He was the first NZ comedian to participate in a Royal Variety Performance in Dec 2011. He performed in The 1st Comedy Proms at the Royal Albert Hall backed by a 50 piece orchestra followed by a sellout Edinburgh Fringe season and a national tour of the UK. And he launched a brand new show … MORE TAPE which opens at the new festival venue Q – 305 Queen St on Mon 14 May following a short North Island tour.
Drawing on a heritage that includes silent film, mime, magic, and puppetry, The Boy With Tape On His Face is a pensive, curious soul approaching every object and audience member as a potential friend - or plaything.
This exciting one-man show is attracting attention across the globe, The Boy With Tape on His Face has racked up awards for Best Show, Best Show Concept, People's Choice, to name a few at the New Zealand, Melbourne and Adelaide festivals.
The Boy is a mad scientist of vaudevillian pranks, who reminds us that life is an adventure…
“The Boy With Tape on His Face is utterly spectacular! Endlessly inventive, hysterically funny. Sublime physical lunacy – fight for a ticket.” Tim Arthur, Time Out ✭✭✭✭✭
“A deliciously skilful hour, some of the set pieces are simply joyous, sometimes mesmerising”

Janey Godley (Scotland) in ‘The Godley Hour’ - Live at The Classic
Janey Godley (Scotland) in ‘The Godley Hour’
The Queen of Scottish comedy is back with a brand new hour on her 4th tour to the NZ International Comedy Festival.
It’s not hard to understand the comparisons with Billy Connolly. Janey Godley is also from Glasgow, has a colourful vocabulary, tells wild rambling stories about her misadventures and has a love affair with New Zealand audiences. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the NZ International Comedy Festival we have invited Janey back to perform a brand new hour at Wellington’s San Francisco Bathhouse (Apr 30 to May 5) and The Classic in Auckland (May 14 to 19)
Janey’s new show is titled ‘The Godley Hour’. She has been at the epicentre of yet more extraordinary events, personal disasters and strange-but-true happenings. A sex party in L.A. with the worse buffet, the joy of finding out you may have been responsible for a man's death, a frightening bus trip to Venice Beach, and her recent pregnancy scare make up this year’s hour of fun.
Not only a stand-up comedian Janey is also a bestselling author, playwright, award-winning podcaster and former Scotsman newspaper columnist
Her various shows have attracted extensive critical acclaim
"One of Scotland's finest onstage treasures... Compelling... ballsy... a breath of fresh air" Guardian UK
"The most outspoken female stand-up in Britain... The most ribald and refreshing comedy talent to have risen from the slums of Glasgow since Billy Connolly..." Daily Telegraph
"The funniest mum on earth... you can't help but love this woman... her dry wit and exquisite sense of irony" New Zealand Herald
"Some of the sharpest-elbowed comedy in the world" New York Times

GUY WILLIAMS IN ON THE VERGE OF NOTHING - Live in The Classic Studio
GUY WILLIAMS IN
ON THE VERGE OF NOTHING
Since leaving high school at the end of 2005 Guy Williams has been mildly successful as a BA student, ‘amateur professional’ basketball player, student union leader, unlicensed liquidator, unqualified legal advisor, failed pub quiz host and faux television journalist; constantly on the brink of achieving greatness without ever actually getting there.
In late 2011 Guy Was asked to speak at his old high school as someone who was quote “successful or on the verge of success”. Guy agreed to give the speech mainly in an effort to stop local multi sport champion Nathan Fa’avae from getting to do it for doing it for the 5th year in a row. “On the verge of nothing” is Guy’s attempt to ‘educate’ the students of Nelson College using his own experiences to impart the wealth of wisdom and knowledge he has acquired in his time spent ‘almost making it’.
Guy Williams has been stalking the boards of the New Zealand Comedy scene for over four years. Guy claims he “captured the hearts of the nation” in 2010 when he appeared on Paul Henry’s reakfast program as a representative for “Commercial Whaling New Zealand”.
In 2011 Guy ‘starred’ in TV3’s “The Jono Project” where he has been described as “easily the worst part of the show” (Jack Finnen, user comment: stuff.co.nz). 2012 will see Guy’s return to Paul Henry’s show as a guest on “Would I lie to you”. He will also appear on TV3’s new sitcom ‘Hounds’.
