UPDATE : NZ Herald said (Mon 30 April) "But the UK's greatest contribution to the festival, on early evidence, may well be Milton Jones with his languid, whimsical thoughts in a voice that might remind some of Winnie The Pooh"
UK comedy hero hailed as the Best Headline Act in 2011 is set to storm the NZ International Comedy Festival.
Milton Jones is a man of few words, between laughs, acclaimed by UK critics as the king of surreal one-liners (The Times UK). His G.P.M. ratio, thats Gags Per Minute, is astounding. And he is set to make a big impression when his show opens at The Classic, NZs home of live comedy, on Saturday, 28 April.
Milton Jones is a multi-award winning comedian. In 1996, a youthful Jones was voted Best Newcomer to the Edinburgh Fringe. The following year he was nominated for Best Show. In 2003 Time OUT UK picked him as the Best Comedian of the year. He arrives in NZ in 2012 with over 15 years of some of the best one liners in the industry. And only 60 minutes to perform them in!
Milton is a regular panellist on Mock the Week (BBC2), and was recently to be seen on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow (BBC1). He has also recently had his ninth radio series commissioned for BBC Radio 4.
"The sultan of surreal" The Guardian UK
Chortle.co.uk Headliner of the Year 2011
Milton has also published a novel called Where Do
Comedians Go When They Die?, Mark Billingham the
crimewriter and comedian said of it:
'Hilarious, moving and truthful. Finally a book that
tells you what it's REALLY like to tell jokes for a living. And
no-one tells jokes better than Milton Jones.'
