The best of British moniker has never been a more appropriate than for a newcomer to the 2010 NZ International Comedy Festival , Miles Jupp.
As English comedians go he has a first class pedigree having won the prestigious 'So You Think Youre Funny' new face competition at the 2000 Edinburgh Fringe to launch his new career followed up with a nomination for 'Best Newcomer 'when he returned to the Fringe in 2004 with his first solo show 'Gentleman Prefer Brogues'.
Following further solo shows in 2005 he left the stage to concentrate on film, television and radio work with parts in 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', 'Death Defying Acts' and 'Is Anybody Out There'. More recently Miles has appeared in Guy Ritchies 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Dagenham Girls.'
He returned to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009 where he was spotted by NZ Comedy Festival scouts and invited to our festival.
You have to love a guy who refers to The Chippendales as those "buff American dance chaps". I could, without a scintilla of exaggeration, listen to Miles Jupp every night of August and still not tire of his delightful wordsmithery and mellifluous tones.
"There is not a wasted word or an uncrafted moment in this
hour".
**** The Scotsman August 2009
"Jupp is intelligent, charismatic and one of the most
accomplished raconteurs"
