MICHELE  A'COURT
New Zealand
A 5 STAR COMEDIAN
PROFILE

Winner of the NZ Comedy Guild Award for Best Female Comedian for six years (2002 - 2007), Michele A'Court has successfully made a living, raised a child, and paid a mortgage for more than a decade as a professional comedian.

A "perceptive student of the human condition" (Napier Daily Telegraph), she has been described as "sassy, snide, outrageous and possibly libellous" (NZ Herald), and "French and Saunders all rolled into one" (Dominion Post) - though she is smaller than this might suggest.

Comedy festival shows in New Zealand, Melbourne, Adelaide and Edinburgh have dealt with the war on terror, national and international politics, life, love and laughter. Her latest project, "The Lady Bunch", with Irene Pink and Justine Smith was nominated as Best Local Show at the 2008 Festival and is now in demand throughout the country.

Michele is also a corporate host and entertainer, celebrity debater, and freelance journalist. She writes a weekly column for "Your Weekend" published in Waikato, Wellington and Christchurch. She also contributes comedy spots twice a week on Auckland's EasyMix, and is a regular social commentator on Radio NZ National's "The Panel" with Jim Mora and "Nine to Noon" with Kathryn Ryan and Te Radar.

In 2007, Michele was part of "Titters!" which won the People's Choice Award at the Adelaide Festival. Her 2006 show, "40 Odd Years", was an autobiographical retrospective that celebrated midlife crises and the depression epidemic. Michele's award winning solo show for 2005, "Heritage 101", focused on race relations and kiwi nationhood, and won the NZ Festival Award for Best Show Concept 2005.
