NZs only fulltime professional comedy club was opened in October
1997 and in three short years has gone from
being the new kid on the block to an institution on
the local entertainment scene.
The original design and layout of the Classic is based on some of the
most successful clubs in the USA and the UK, so not surprisingly, many
of the international acts that have played The Classic have had nothing
but praise for the atmosphere and audiences.

The Classic is situated in the heart of Aucklands entertainment
precinct. You cant miss the big comedy neon at:
321 Queen Street,
Auckland,
New Zealand.

The Classic Venue room can accommodate 140 people in comfortable cabaret-style
seating, adjacent to a separate Front Bar which is open from 6:30pm till late.
There are two licensed bars offering a wide range of refreshments at reasonable
prices, convenient table service in the venue and a snack menu are also
available.

The Classic is open up to 7 days a week with a regular programme of live
comedy from Wednesday to Saturday. (See Calendar).
In addition to comedy The Classic regularly hosts local bands, private
functions and the bi-monthly ShortFuse night with the latest
in shortfilms and videos.
If youve seen one show
you havent seen them
all!
There are over 50 local professional comedians working in Auckland and
up to 20 new faces at any one time to choose from, all of whom are constantly
creating new comedy so no two shows are ever the same at The Classic.
Add to this the regular international guests that pass through Auckland
and it is easy to understand why some of our Frequent Laughers make The
Classic a weekly habit.
